Description

Please read the following instructions carefully. All criteria must be met and followed in order to be reviewed by SCGA staff and oversight Committee. This is a private application, and juniors must be invited in order to apply. 

New Applicant Eligibility:

Applicants must be between the ages of 12-18 who have demonstrated a commitment to golf and are ready to train and compete at the regional and national level, but do not have the resources necessary to do so. Applicant must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale throughout the duration of the scholarship. Applicant must be able to demonstrate his/her ambition to succeed, his/her commitment to golf, why this scholarship would be beneficial, and how this scholarship helps them achieve their goals. Applicant should demonstrate financial need through the caregiver statement or through supporting documentation that shows financial need, hardship or government assistance (i.e. CalWorks, Food Stamps, KingGAP, FDPIR, LADWP Low Income Assistance Program, Southern California Edison CARE or FERA programs; financial assistance from other junior golf organizations (SCPGA, AJGA, etc.))

Within the application, juniors will be asked to submit the following:

Letter of recommendation from a golf coach/mentor or teacher. Parent or caregiver statement. Golf resume/experience. Include any rankings, recent tournament results, tour participation, handicap and exemptions. Please see an example of how this should be formatted here. Projected annual budget highlighting what the applicant needs funding for and how funds would be allocated. The budget should be formatted in excel and broken down by areas of need, monthly spending, anticipated tournaments, etc. Please see an example here. Average anticipated award amount will be between $1,000 - $5,000 for a 12-month period. 5-10 minute personal commitment video from the junior. SCGA Junior program involvement. Grades/GPA or transcripts, if available. Other means of financial assistance the junior/family is currently receiving. Have you applied for other golf financial support (SCPGA, AJGA, etc.)? Others: CalWorks, Food Stamps, KingGAP, FDPIR, LADWP Low Income Assistance Program, Southern California Edison CARE or FERA programs

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed once per quarter.
